So, this is what happened: In her upcoming memoir, Caitlyn Jenner, now a woman who apparently has (had?) pretty closed-minded views on gay community, accused Ellen DeGeneres, a proud lesbian, of becoming “alienated” from the LGBTQ community.
Since, this might seem a bit odd and hard to follow, let’s go into details.
I’m A Traditionalist
Caitlyn Jenner is about to publish her memoir called “ The Secrets of My Life,” but it seems that she is using her upcoming book to deal with other people’s lives as well.
The disagreement between Jenner and Ellen began in 2015 when former decathlete appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and they discussed how the transgender reality star’s views on gay marriage had evolved through the years, but it got pretty weird.
“I’m a traditionalist,” said Jenner at the time. “I kind of like tradition, and it’s always been a man and a woman. … I think, like a lot of people on this issue, I have really changed my thinking here to, ‘I don’t ever want to stand in front of anybody’s happiness.’”
Confusing Views On Gay Marriage
Ellen DeGeneres, who has been married to beautiful actress Portia de Rossi since 2008, subsequently talked about this strange interview on Howard Stern’s show and said how Jenner’s views on gay marriage were “confusing,” adding that Caitlyn had “judgment about gay people and marriage.”
As RadarOnline.com reports, Jenner now tells her side of the story:
“I believed, as anyone would, that that was exactly what she wanted to talk about, my progression in terms of changing attitude over the years.” Jenner adds that she was quite surprised by Ellen’s response and goes on to clarify her new-found views:
“I am for it. I did not initially understand why marriage was so important, influenced no doubt by my own personal experience. Now I do, and it’s a wonderful thing to see.”
However, this apparently wasn’t enough so she decides to blast DeGeneres for their fallout.
“This discussion further alienated me from members of the LGBTQ community,” Caitlyn allegedly writes. “Ellen’s appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where in my mind she even more emphatically took what I said out of context, made it go viral.”
Her memoir “The Secrets of My Life” will be released on April 25.
