One of the most famous and talked about (now ex) power couples, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, are now in the final stages of their divorce and everything seems to be going according Amber’s generous plan.
Namely, the former duo agreed to a settlement back in August when Depp agreed to pay Amber $7 million.
As E! News reports, they are now slowly but steadily reaching the final stages of their divorce settlement and Amber should be getting her money soon. However, it is crucial to mention that the actress won’t be keeping the money.
Amber announced right after the agreement that she would donate the entire amount to the ACLU, as well as to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Go Amber!
Thus far the actor made only the first installment of the donations – $200,000, meaning the bulk of the sum is yet to be donated. Since the report said that the settlement is “very close” to being finalized, Depp will have to pay Heard the remaining $6.8 million very soon.
Over the next 15 months, to be more precise.
Amber said that she wanted to bring a positive spin on the whole divorce thing and “a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most”, which is why she decided to give the money to those who need it more.
“Over the years, I have seen firsthand how more funding for staffing, better equipment and better medication can make the difference between life or death for a child,” she said in a statement.
“I know these organizations will put the funds to good use and look forward to continuing to support them in the future. Hopefully, this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most.”
