Aside from the glamour and the exciting big moving pictures, Hollywood is essentially a battleground where stars compete for the ultimate prize – an Oscar. Every year we witness attempts from actors and producers alike at bringing home of these golden bad boys.
However, there is one movie star who is talented beyond all measure, yet his goal isn’t set on winning an Academy Award. Ladies and gentlemen, that actor is Johnny Depp.
While talking to BBC’s Newsbeat, Depp was asked about the recent Oscar buzz surrounding his role in the upcoming “Black Mass” film.
To this, the actor responded with: “I don’t want to win one of those things ever, you know. They gave me one of those things, like a nomination, two or three times. A nomination is plenty.”
By now, everyone is used to Johnny’s quirkiness, especially since we saw him in the role of the weird, yet hilariously funny Captain Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie series. But alas, his quirks aren’t responsible for this behavior.
“I don’t want to have to talk,” the actor said. “The idea of winning means that you’re in competition with someone and I’m not in competition with anybody.”
Depp starred in a plethora of impressive movie roles ever since his acting career began back in the ‘80s. But according to his latest statement, he stars in movies out of his love for them and not for the sake of getting awarded.
Now that’s true devotion!
